It’s no surprise that Vail Colorado is likely one of the most scenic areas you will ever visit. Between ideal year-round weather conditions to the activities it has to offer, it may be one of the top-visited areas for a Colorado winter getaway. In fact, it may be beloved due to having the third largest ski mountain in all of North America. People often ask, what came first? The town or the resort? Interestingly enough, the great town of Vail was made to perfectly compliment the already impressive Vail Ski Resort. Even still, the town of Vail never feels like an “afterthought”, and although it’s a popular destination for all things skiing, it's a magical place to visit and live throughout the year. But what makes us love this charming town so much?
Beautiful Scenery
Whether you’re driving from the heart of Denver, a neighboring town, or an entirely different state, there’s no denying how absolutely stunning the natural scenery is in Vail. Often visitors say that the drive itself is worth the visit. In the winter months, you’ll have the chance to marvel over snow-capped mountains and steaming chimneys. Fall brings with it the ever-changing leaves that grow vibrant before they make their descent to the ground. Spring and summer perfectly balance green slopes, sunshine, and crisp mountain air. As for the town itself, walking along the streets is a sight. Abundantly speckled with artist sculptors encapsulating the history and wildlife of the area, Vail proudly displays what makes it so special.
Great Weather Year-long
Colorado may have the ideal weather throughout the seasons, and this is certainly true when staying in Vail. Winters are idyllically filled with snow and temperatures in the low 20s. Summers are clear, bright, and perfectly warm with temperatures in the 70s. We love that this town gets up to 300 days of sunshine a year. So regardless of the season, you’ll still be greeted by a cheerful sun—which makes a chilly day feel far less dreary.
Never-ending Activities
There’s never a dull moment in Vail. Sure, we can easily name snow-related sports and activities that Vail is known around the world for, but there’s a whole lot to do that doesn’t involve being on a pair of skis. We love that activities can include anything from sitting at a cafe with a cup of hot cocoa or taking a scenic ride in a gondola. Whether you’re spending time by a fireplace, catching a movie and eating dinner at the CineBistro, or taking advantage of the amazing hiking trails in the area, your days in Vail will never be a bore.
