The Town of Winter Park is the bustling epicenter of Grand County thanks to its close proximity to Denver and Winter Park Resort right at the entrance to town. With thousands of acres of National Forest surrounding Winter Park, it has become a popular year-round destination for nearly every kind of outdoor pursuit imaginable. And with only a 90-minute drive to Denver, it is the most accessible mountain town in the state.
Winter Park - The Town
Winter Park residents embrace the outdoor lifestyle during summer and a die-hard skiing culture during winter, with a vibrant restaurant and nightlife scene after the sun goes down year-round. Late spring, summer, and fall are for hiking, mountain biking, camping, and fly-fishing while the winter is embraced for skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing.
One of the most family-oriented communities in Colorado, Winter Park is an excellent place for young and mature families alike to gather and take in all of the best that Colorado has to offer. Each event the town hosts revolves around creating a fun and family-friendly environment.
Winter Park is situated in a truly unique setting with the Continental Divide continuously rising into view from the east, and a green carpet of lodgepole pine forests stretching to the west. Nearly every night when the sun starts to set, the dramatic peaks of the Continental Divide glow purple, pink, and blue, creating a stunning Alpenglow phenomenon. Thick forests surrounding the town offer a completely serene environment to hike and mountain bike. With miles of well-developed trails, the paved Fraser River Trail is an exceptional way to get around and travels from the ski resort all the way to Fraser.
An tireless list of events take place year-round in Winter Park and include weekly live music events in the newly remolded Town Park during summer, and competitions that draw some of the best athletes in the world year-round.
